Have you ever watched Ski Sunday from the comfort of your sofa and admired the skill, talent and craziness of the athletes? Maybe you’ve noticed the international crowd ring their cowbells and cheer.
Today I got a whole new perspective of a Ski Race. Ever wondered how you get thousands of people up and down a mountain?!
Early morning one hour bus ride from Dobaccio followed by another 15 minute bus ride to Socrepes. Check in at Work Force, receive todays ‘SWAG’.

Ski Mosh Pit
After a steep walk to the gondola, then 50 steps to climb we reached the Alpine Bowl.
Task one to supervise the standing area looking out for:
‘Dangerous Flag Waving’
Dangerous Cowbell Ringing
‘Rival Fan Clashes – especially USA & Canada!
Happy to report harmony was in the air and everyone witnessed great skiing with a great atmosphere.

Lunch TIme / Pranzo
Pasta, veg, veggie meet balls, fruit bread, and cheese cake!. No complaints from me although my Italian colleagues were very upset about having packet pasta!
Back down the mountain to help out with ticketing. It’s great to meet and chat to so many people from all over the world united by their love of sport.
The Helping Hand

Probably the toughest part of the day. The temperature had dropped and all of the surfaces were starting to freeze. The spectator exit crossed the only single track road on and off the mountain for work vehicles with no one observing an sort of caution. It was like ‘The Italian Job’ for mini buses, cars and people.
All in all a great day, making new friends and experiencing International Culture and World Class sport.
