Volunteering: A Work of Heart

Day 2 – Tofane Alpine Centre – Team Event Services

Women’s Super G Day! Delayed start due to the weather, too much cloud for the emergency helicopters to land.

Back to the mosh-ski pit keeping the spectators updated with start times. New challenge !

‘ Try and persuade spectators not to smoke and vape in the mosh-ski pit! ‘.

Getting used to going part way to work in a Gondola.

Tofane Ski Run Facts

  • Altitude – bottom – 1400m

Respect The MOuntains

It didn’t even cross mind about the effects of altitude. Many normally fit and healthy spectators find it more difficult walking the slopes and stairs around the venue.

I think of myself as having a fairly healthy set of lungs, blowing my saxophone and dancing at the same time doing 12,000 steps in 90 minutes at a gig. I have been really surprised at how I have struggled when climbing steps at a snails pace. It’s a case of ‘piano piano’, slowly slowly and enjoy the views.

Frecce Tricolori

Italian President Sergio Mattarella was in attendance at the venue today so a special flypast was arranged. A great celebration for an Italian gold medal in the Super G!

The Frecce Tricolori known as 313°  Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico Pattugila Acrobatica. They are the world’s largest aerobatic patrol, typically flying a formation of 10 aircraft.

All spectators safely off the mountain, I think I set a world record for the amount of Ciaos, Goodbyes, Arrivederci’s and Grazie Mille’s exchanged with everyone.
