Volunteering: A Work of Heart

Day 5 – Curling

Another early start. Workforce check-in not open when we all arrived. Eventually the Workforce managers arrived but couldn’t find the keys! Check-in was very much a paper and pen sign in today.

Great to get a close up of the original wooden tribune seating in the Curling Centre. Today’s challenge was definitely seating. Volunteers were all sharing seating plans they had made a note of on previous shifts as the numbering system made no sense at all. The spectators found it all very amusing when we explained that the seats and rows were not necessarily in numerical order.

Great action in the Women’s Curling this morning!

Rest Day – COrtina & The Bob

Cortina really has been an excellent host town embracing the Olympic spirit. Lots to see and do and feel part of The Olympic Games even if you don’t have a ticket to an event.

Two Man Bob

Cast your minds back to 1993

“Feel the rhythm!

Feel the rhyme!

Get on up, it’s bobsled time!

Cool Runnings!”

Fast forward to 2026, yes Jamaica have a team and there’s not an egg in sight! It was definitely cool and a fantastic event. The German teams were dominant, unfortunately GB’s break-man Taylor Lawrence got injured between the two heats so first time Olympian Leon Greenwood stepped in to push Brad Hall to 12th place.
